  Real New Movie Photos

Real photos from the Silent Hill movie have appeared on Yahoo! Movies and IGN Film Force. Thanks to Silent One for the heads-up. And yes, I made sure they're legit FIRST.

Webmaster is a Moron!

Well this afternoon, I read an e-mail with a photo of Jodelle Ferland as she appears in Kingdom Hospital. Having never seen the ABC movie, I got all hyped thinking it was a Silent Hill Photo and posted it as such in a blaze of idiotic speed and now I have to consume many pounds of humble pie and apologise for any broken hearts I caused.

After posting it, I realised I'd seen that Pinata-Like doll somewhere before... I'd grabbed a photo like it months before for a line up all the Silent Hill Film's cast. Then I recalled that I'd grabbed it well before shooting even began!

So there you go. Sorry. I promise not jump the gun again without some research first... But you gotta admit it is pretty Silent Hillishly cool.

  First Silent Hill: Centralia Photo

News was first broke at Bloody-Disgusting.com, wound it's way to the Letter From Silent Heaven Community (a forum prematurely put to rest) and onto our corner of bandwidth.

Just for fun, here's a little grain filter & image grading mockup...

Silent Hill Timeline Preserved

Silent One has e-mailed us about the site he's just started called, Silent Hill Tears.

It features the Silent Hill Timeline that was once well known and renowned at Nursery Cryme. He's also added extra images to each date entry and as if that weren't enough he also has the same timeline in French! Silent One promises more content and changes to the site as time goes on so be sure to check it out. I'm glad one at least on part of Nursery Cryme still lives on...

  Silent Hill Fansite Decline?

Geez... Another one bites the dust.

First Silent Hill Heaven goes, then Nursery Cryme... It seems like a cool-off period for Silent Hill fandom on the web as the maintainers of these fantastic sites can longer afford to host or devote time to them anymore. I was going to include the link to the forum post where Nursery Cryme's webmasters announced their shutdown, but as of now it also looks like the Silent Hill Heaven Forums have gone down too.

I'm not trying to spread any unfounded rumors here, the site just says it's currently unavailable. They could come back. Yet with current trend of more and more of the top fansites disappearing, I can only cross my fingers and wonder.

Nevertheless, here's a warm hearted 'Thank You' to the Makers of those sites for the many years great content they gave us.

Lost Memories in French

The call for more languages has been answered, and Silent One alerted us to this site:
http://demetrium.net/LM2/

Run by Silent Fulang, the site is translating The Book of Lost Memories little by little into French.

Book of Lost Memories in Spanish

I've been asked by Silent Hill fan Fernanda from Brazil if we could translate the Book of Lost Memories into Brazilian Portuguese. As I myself have no lingual skills other than English (and I'm sure others would even call that into question) and the fact that most of our translators have only so far been fluent in Japanese, there are no plans at this time for a Protuguese edition of the site...

Yet, be happy! Or Seja feliz! I did a little web searching and have come across a site similar to wallofdeath's that has the book translated into Spanish. Not exactly Portuguese, I know... but I believe there are enough similarites that it would be easier to read than English or Japanese.

Head over to http://cronicas-sh.webcindario.com/ for the Spanish translation of what appears to be the full Book of Lost Memories.

Also, if anyone ever comes across this material translated into any other languages, by all means please let us know! We'll be sure to post a link to it.

Get More Booth Than You Ever Wanted

It's been pointed out to me that Gamestop's Silent Hill 4 page has and still does carry a video tour of the booth. Billed as, "Ryan Bowling takes you on a tour of SCEA's booth on display at E3 2004," you can stream it for free, or pay an exorbiant subscription fee for the privilege of downloading it... Thank you Gamestop for making me feel less exclusive.

  Old News Made New Again

Call it retro Silent Hill news...

Back in May 2004 I posted photos I took of Konami's Silent Hill 4 booth on my annual trip to E3 on the Silent Hill Heaven Message Board. It made a big splash back then and I have to admit I got to feel like dorky, big-shot, "insider" for a week or two but the post was later lost in a forum purge along with all the photos.

So, because I've never seen photos of the booth elsewhere and just for the preservation of a cool piece of Silent Hill History (and because I miss being a dorky big-shot) I thought I'd post the photos once again here on the site:

The booth was made up to resemble a section of Henry's apartment from the game with TVs, PS2s, and Xboxes all set into the various nooks and crannies for playing the demo. Most of the pictures are video camera screen caps so I apologise for the graininess.

•Click on Pictures to Enlarge Them•

A couple of shots of the booth from the front. The fluorescent light in the faux kitchen were orginally blinking but it was giving people headaches so they soon stopped it.
Of course there was the infamous chained door and an equally frightening E3 goer hogging the demo station next to it. Back in the kitchen, one of the cooler demo stations had a PS2 controller coming out of the sink drain. The only playable areas were sections of the Forest, Prison, and Building worlds... When you could shove your way into playing them.
The backside of the booth, not far from the Metal Gear Soild 3 display. Some suited business dudes struggle to understand the "appeal" of survival horror. Some wise guy thought he was going to beat me in posting screen caps. Hah! You don't want to know the things that kitchen countertop has endured...
The living room area had more consoles & TVs for playing. The poor fellow standing there was a Konami rep who had to answer a million qeustions he didn't know the answers to... Come to think of it he didn't know very much at all beyond the release date. And he was off on that too. I suppose he was just there to make sure nobody tried to yank off the refrigerator door handle as a sovenier.
I don't know if anyone remembers or not but after E3 there was a video online featuring 3 minutes of gameplay footage from the forest level. It was soon infamous for being taken down a few days later, but not before I saw it and realized it was the same footage that was shot right next to me by this video crew! Ah, the geeky memories...

Grand Re-Opening!

The new look is finished, all the new content is available, and all this before the promised launch date of October 1st! A big thanks goes out to Dr.Loomis for super fast Photoshop work on those Book of Lost Memories pages.

He completed pages 82 through 113 so be sure to check them out! While all the major content from the original Japanese book is now on the site, there's still a few more lesser sections that we'll upload in the future.

Site Begins Facelift, Webmaster Gets Headache

Or maybe just a sore mouse arm...

I finally started making a site layout that don't look like poo. At least that's what I'm hoping for. Each section has it's own immidate link now, so no more tedious scrolling to get them.

The explainations and background info on each section can now be found on it's own page along with site credits & contact e-mail... And of course you can now check back here on the news page to see if we've actually done anything constructive lately.

Translated Memories Welcomes New Contributor

Mike a.k.a. Dr.Loomis on the Silent Hill Heaven Fourms has graciously taken up the task of helping to complete the text replacements for the remaining pages in The Book of Lost Memories.

His volunteering is a welcome load off my back and his work looks great. Plus it means we might actually have the whole "Fugue" section of the book finished soon.
